Charge While You Ride

For riders whose phones are working as hard as they are.

Google Maps drains a phone battery in 2-3 hours. Continuous Bluetooth audio drains another chunk. Add screen brightness for outdoor riding, and a fully-charged phone won't last the workday for delivery riders, ride-share riders, or long-distance commuters. The Alpha Charge adds USB-C 30W fast charging to the proven Grip-X Alpha — meaning you end the ride with more battery than you started, not less.

Long-Distance Commuters

Bangalore-Mysore, Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Gurgaon morning runs. 2-3 hour commutes mean phone batteries hit critical before you reach the office. With 30W fast charge, the phone tops up during the ride.

Delivery & Ride-Share

Zomato, Swiggy, Uber, Ola riders run Maps continuously through a 10-12 hour shift. Without on-bike charging, that's 2-3 phone swap-outs or a midday power bank break. With 30W fast charge, the phone runs continuously.

Tourers & Adventure Riders

Multi-day rides through Leh, Spiti, Western Ghats, Northeast. Phones are your navigation, your music, your photos, your emergency communicator. The Alpha Charge keeps power flowing across full-day rides where stopping to charge isn't an option.

How we built it

Anti-vibration cushioning. Plus 30W of clean USB-C power.

USB-C with universal fast-charge negotiation

The USB-C port is engineered around a multi-protocol charging chip that auto-negotiates with the connected phone: USB Power Delivery (PD), Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC), Apple Fast Charging, Samsung Super Fast Charging. The phone identifies which standard it supports, the chip selects the matching profile, and full negotiated power flows up to 30W. The chip also thermally manages — if the phone runs hot or battery hits 80%, the chip throttles back automatically. There's no setting to configure; plug your phone in with a standard USB-C cable and it just works at the fastest rate your phone supports.

12-24V input — works on every Indian two-wheeler

The input voltage range covers everything from 110cc commuter bikes (12V system) through to electric two-wheelers (which run high-voltage main batteries but expose 12V auxiliary rails for accessories). The Ola, Ather, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Hero Vida — all have a 12V auxiliary positive available. The wiring kit ships with an inline fuse (3A, automotive standard) and crimp connectors sized for typical bike harness wiring. Standard install ties the positive to your ignition-switched 12V wire (so the charger only powers up when the bike is running, preventing battery drain when parked).

Same anti-vibration cushioning as the Alpha

The Alpha Charge uses the same polyurethane-foam-and-spring cushioning assembly as the Grip-X Alpha — engineered to absorb the 20-200Hz vibration band that motorcycles generate. Critically, the USB-C connector and wiring are routed away from the dampening system: the cable exits the holder body below the cushion, so plugging in your phone doesn't compromise the anti-vibration protection. You get full camera-protection benefit AND charging in one assembly. The trade-off most cheap holders make (rigid mount for charging convenience) is eliminated.

Same grip, same 360° rotation, same dual-mount

Everything that works on the Grip-X Alpha works on the Alpha Charge — one-twist grip lock (no buttons, no levers), 360° rotation (portrait, landscape, anything in between), dual mount with both handlebar and rearview clamps included, 25mm and 28mm bar spacers included, Allen key included. The charging functionality is purely additive; nothing about the mechanical user experience changes from the Alpha. If you've used the Alpha, the Alpha Charge feels identical — until you notice the phone's battery percentage going up instead of down during your commute.

Grip-X Range

Two variants. Same protection.

The Grip-X series has two variants. You're on the Alpha Charge — same anti-vibration cushioning and grip as the standard Alpha, plus USB-C 30W fast charging. ₹600 buys you the charging functionality; everything else is identical.

Installation

Professional install strongly recommended.

The mechanical install (clamp, bracket, holder body) is the same as the Grip-X Alpha — about 10 minutes with the included Allen key. What's different on the Alpha Charge is the electrical wiring: the USB-C power needs to connect to your bike's ignition-switched 12V positive wire and a ground. This is a 5-minute job for an automotive electrician but does require crimping wires and connecting to your bike's harness.

The supplied wiring kit includes an inline 3A fuse, weatherproof connectors, and a cable long enough to reach most factory wiring harness tap points. Most CarXNeo authorised retailers offer install at no extra charge with purchase; this is the recommended path.

Why ignition-switched is the default: The wiring connects to a 12V positive wire that's only live when the bike's ignition is on. Result: the USB port goes dead when you park, so the charger can't drain your battery overnight. If you want always-on (direct battery) wiring, an automotive electrician can do that — but we recommend ignition-switched as the safer default.

Frequently asked

Questions buyers ask.

How fast does 30W USB-C actually charge my phone?

Phone-dependent — most modern flagship phones (iPhone 15/16, Samsung Galaxy S23/S24, OnePlus 11/12, Pixel 8/9) negotiate Power Delivery (PD) up to 30W at the wall, and the Grip-X Alpha Charge supports that full rate. In practical terms: ~50% charge in 30 minutes on an iPhone 15, ~50% in 25 minutes on a Samsung S24. Older or budget phones may cap at their own slower rate (typically 18W or 27W) but still charge fast enough to outpace what Google Maps drains. Long-commute riders end the ride with more battery than they started; not less.

Will it work on my electric scooter (Ola, Ather, TVS iQube)?

Yes — the 12-24V input voltage range covers all modern Indian electric two-wheelers. The Ola, Ather, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Hero Vida all run on 48V or 60V battery systems but have 12V auxiliary rails for accessories — that's what you tap into. Most EVs have a 12V auxiliary output near the headlight or under the seat. Ask your dealer to identify the auxiliary 12V positive and ground wires, or hire an EV-experienced electrician to install. Same procedure as a petrol bike from that point on.

What's the difference between the Alpha Charge and the Alpha?

The Alpha (₹1,899) is the holder only — same anti-vibration cushioning, same grip, same warranty. The Alpha Charge (this product, ₹2,499) adds USB-C 30W fast charging. ₹600 separates them. Pick the Alpha Charge if you do long highway commutes, run Google Maps continuously (which drains battery fast), or are a food-delivery / ride-share rider. Pick the Alpha if you already have a vehicle USB charger elsewhere on your bike, or if you primarily use the phone for short trips where charging isn't needed.

Does the charging port introduce vibration to the phone?

No. The USB-C connector exits the holder body below the cushion — meaning the cable is routed away from the dampening assembly. The phone itself sits on the cushioned cradle exactly as it does on the Alpha (no charging). The 20-200Hz vibration absorption that protects your camera works identically with the cable plugged in. The Alpha Charge is engineered so the charging feature doesn't compromise the anti-vibration protection — it's an addition, not a trade-off.

Does the holder support PD, QC, or specific fast-charging standards?

All major standards: USB Power Delivery (PD), Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC), Apple Fast Charging, Samsung Super Fast Charging. The charging chip auto-negotiates the highest standard your phone supports, then drops back if your phone runs hot or the battery is near full. You don't need to pick a charging mode — plug in your phone with any standard USB-C cable, and the holder figures it out. We recommend a quality USB-C cable (4ft or shorter) for full 30W delivery; cheap or long cables introduce voltage drop that cuts charging speed.

Will the charging drain my motorcycle battery overnight?

No. The Grip-X Alpha Charge is wired through your ignition-on circuit (not direct battery), meaning power only flows when the bike is running. As soon as you turn off the ignition, the USB-C port goes dead. This is the standard wiring approach for any aftermarket vehicle accessory and is what the install kit is designed for. If you'd prefer a direct-battery wiring (always-on), an automotive electrician can do that — but we recommend ignition-switched as the safer default.

Why does the installation need a relay / wiring?

To wire USB-C 30W charging safely, the charger needs a power source from your bike's ignition-switched 12V positive wire and a ground connection. This is a 5-minute job for an automotive electrician but does require crimping wires and connecting to your bike's harness. We strongly recommend professional install for the Alpha Charge — both for safety and for warranty (DIY wiring mistakes that damage the unit aren't covered). Most CarXNeo authorised retailers offer install at no extra charge with purchase.

What's in the box?

Main holder unit with USB-C output port, handlebar clamp + rearview mirror clamp, 25mm & 28mm bar spacers, USB-C wiring kit (cable + inline fuse + connectors), Allen key, manual. Note: you'll need to provide your own USB-C cable from the holder to your phone (any standard USB-C cable works; we recommend 4ft or shorter for full 30W delivery).

Is the 1-year warranty real?

Yes. One year against manufacturing defects, covered by CarXNeo Solutions LLP. CE and RoHS certifications reflect international safety and material standards. Email support@carxneo.com to register a claim. Exclusions: physical damage from crash impacts, water damage from incorrect cable routing, electrical damage from DIY wiring mistakes, modifications. For the Alpha Charge specifically, install-related electrical damage is the most common exclusion — professional install protects both the unit and the warranty.
